No Contest Newspaper Cover the City Better Than Local TV

As Hospitals Close All Over the City Only the Newspapers Cover A Story Of A Hospital Executive Who Bribed Elected Officials.  TV Covers to Much Fluff  and Very Little Political Crime and Analysis

Executive of Hospital Gets 3 Years for Bribery(NYT) Rosen bribed former New York State Assemblyman Anthony Seminerio, a Democrat, paying him $400,000 in consulting fees from 1999 to 2008 to help steer government money Rosen's way, including $19 million in loan forgiveness in 2006. Seminerio died in prison. Rosen was also convicted of bribing Democratic state Sen. Carl Kruger in 2007 and 2008 by directing hospital business to a hospice care center promoted by Kruger. Kruger, the one-time chairman of New York state's powerful Senate Finance Committee, was sentenced last month to seven years in prison after he pleaded guilty in the case. Prosecutors said Rosen later recruited state Assemblyman William Boyland Jr., paying him $175,000 from 2003 through 2008 to serve as a consultant at a hospital's family care center.* Former Brookdale honcho David Rosen sentenced to three years in prison for(NYDN) * Bribes cost hosp chief 3 years(NYP)

Local TV News For $ale: How Special Interests Control News Content and Public Opinion

If you were watching WCBSTV local news this weekend you would have seen a commercials paid for by The Committee to Save New York (business interests supporting Cuomo) called "Turn the Tide" which told the views that Governor Cuomo did a wonderful job at fixing pensions and the states economy.  Spending on advertising has fueled the increase in lobbying costs. Well-funded special interests funnel millions to lobbyists for public campaigns to sway lawmakers on hot-button issues (TU)  Local News which is mainly weather, traffic, cooking and dog segments is making millions in lobbyists spending.
Cuomo and his supporters spent over $10 million last year to gain public support to push through his agenda. Union and business interest like the pro fracking interest are also spending millions on ads to local stations.  All this money is coming in as local news dumbs down.  It is not a secret that TV and radio stations rely on the local newspaper for most of their hard news. So those "rip and read" broadcasters have offered their views much less hard news as newspaper staffs shrivel amid the draconian layoffs caused by the internet and the recession? True News Wags the NYT On the Russian Community Move to the GOP

True News Said on April 23, 2012
Only a Russian Candidate Can Slow the Red Tide in Southern (True News) Brooklyn The Congressman Turner victor was the wake-up call.  The Fidler results is the panic button. Southern Brooklyn is turning GOP red.  The Democrats only chance to try slow this tide is to pick new candidates that mirror the district. That has already been done in the news Boro Park State Senate District where DSCC Chairman Mike Gianaris helped lobby former Councilman Simcha Felder to run for the seat.   The Winds of Civil War Between the Jews of Southern Brooklyn (True News)

Among New York’s Russians, an Affinity for the G.O.P.(NYT) New Yorkers vote overwhelmingly for Democratic politicians, but immigrants from the former Soviet Union are a notable exception, perhaps because of the legacy of Communism.

More From True News Largest Vote Pulling Machine in Brooklyn is Homeless
NYT Does Not Understand the Russians Are Moving to the GOP Because They Were Screw by the Democrats Not Because of their communist background.  The NYT leaves out the fact that for 10 years the Russians were registering Democratic and electing Democrats. In return for their loyalty they got redistricted into oblivion.
The Russian Deliver the Votes, Elect Democrats and Get Shut Out Everywhere
Gregory Davidzon, owner of the Russian radio station WSNR in Brooklyn, N.Y has become the guy to talk to in the Russian Community. His radio stations constant ads and interviews with Russian team Greenfield was responsible for pulling out over 2000 Russian voters for the Greenfield, his margin of victory.  He was also a key play in the election of the first Russian Assemblyman Alex Brook-Krasney and helped deliver the vote to the mayor in 2009. Congressman Turner credits him for his upset victory and also delivered the Russian vote to John Liu against David Yassky.
Kruger, Fidler, Cymbrowitz and Recchia Never Welcomed the Russians into the Party
Yet many of those democrats the Russians help elected worked worked against during redistricting.  It started 10 years ago when Council Dominic Recchia looking to get reelected in Brighton Beach cut a third of the Russians out of his district.  He won in 2001 because of a 5 way spit of the Jewish  and Russian vote.  This year the Russian hoped to pick up a state senate district only to find their community divided up into 4 different state senate district and 4 Assembly district.  What the NYT does not get is the Democrats led by Kruger, Fidler, Cymbrowitz and Weiner by not accepting them into the fold have given the GOP the opportunity to pick up seats by running Russians like David Strobin.
