True News Sunday Update: 1.6 Million New Yorkers Flee Pols Responsible

NY Pols No Fault Responsibility Empty the City

They tell us that New Yorkers are stampeding out of here but the media never gets into explaining the fault of the politicians. Would it be great if the NYT asked Bloomberg, Quinn or Silver why do you think your constituents are leaving they city in mass? Instead our wimpy political correct media give us problems with no blame.

Stampeding out of NY NY has lost 1.6 million residents to other states in the past decade, according to a new report from the Empire Center for State Policy.  36% of NY'S under 30 plan to flee the state because of high taxes, the crippling cost of living and a basic lack of jobs.  The effect is visible: New York’s congressional delegation will soon be pared down to a threadbare 27 members — the smallest pack in just under 200 years.(NYP Ed)

"Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.  Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes? . . .  What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. . . t seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people in congress who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist. If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair. *  Humble Service With a Side of Swag (NYT)

Six members told Citizens Union they were against lulus and are either pocketing the cash or refusing to explain their stand
Daily News Says These 6 Council Members Lied to the Citizen Union
Margaret Chin of Manhattan and Danny Dromm of Queens are taking the money. Helen Foster of the Bronx insists she never filled out the questionnaire that bears her signature. Fernando Cabrera of the Bronx says he gives 15% of his income to charity but declined to say whether his lulu was part of the donation.  Brooklyn's Sara Gonzalez has ducked questions, and Diana Reyna declined to answer them. Council members not listed have just cashed their semi-annual lulu checks for personal benefit. Voters should hold them to account. City Council members who disavowed corrupt lulu payments in theory continue to accept them in cash(NYDN Ed)

City Council Pols Have Creative Member Item Lulus
Always looking for ways to increase member items some city councilmembers have tap into the politically unpopular Lulus to local groups which incidental help them get reelected.  In addition to Ferreras, those who take the money and say they are giving it to charity are: Gale Brewer and Rosie Mendez of Manhattan; Mathieu Eugene, David Greenfield, Letitia James, Steven Levin and Darlene Mealy of Brooklyn; Karen Koslowitz, Eric Ulrich, Jimmy Van Bramer and Ruben Wills of Queens; Debi Rose of Staten Island, and James Vacca of the Bronx.

The Feds Are Closing In On Congressman Meeks

Meeks' mortgage 'lender' indicted(NYP)

The walls may be closing in on Rep. Gregory Meeks with the indictment of a real-estate broker pal who gave him $40,000. Edul Ahmad faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted of mortgage fraud in an indictment Friday. Though the indictment makes no mention of his political ties, the threat of a lengthy sentence could give the feds leverage to question Ahmad about Meeks and other Queens pols.

Post: Prosecutors Investigate If Execs Purposely Let St. Vincent's Hospital Go Broke(NY1)

Manhattan prosecutors are reportedly looking into whether top executives at St. Vincent's Hospital purposely let it go broke so private developers could buy the property. The New York Post says fraud investigators with the Manhattan district attorney's office are looking at millions of dollars in payments made to St. Vincent's executives and consultants before the hospital declared bankruptcy.*   Bankrupt St. Vincent's pays millions in fees   Law firms, investment banks, accountants, real estate brokers and other advisers in the shuttered hospital system's dissection have been paid about $17 million since last year's bankruptcy filing.  Albany Has A Cost of Bribery Increase
Now Six-Figure Campaign Contributions

That sucking sound you hear at the state Capitol is politicians vacuuming up ever larger quantities of special-interest cash thanks to New York's ridiculously lax campaign finance laws. Effective last week, party bosses are cleared to accept six-figure checks from favor seekers. That's because state law - as written by pols - automatically jacks up contribution caps based on inflation every four years. Albany politicans have their own corrupt version of cost of living allowance for campaign donations(NYDN Ed)
