Cuomo Tax-Free PlanThe Post questions Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s “Tax-Free NY” initiative, asking when state politicians will stand up for the “unglamorous” businesses as opposed to larger companies

‘New York is a high-tax state,” says Gov. Cuomo. “That’s the problem.”
We couldn’t agree more. But we have doubts about the cure he’s proposing, called Tax-Free NY. It would allow business start-ups on and around upstate university campuses to operate completely tax-free for 10 years. That includes exempting employees from state income taxes.
We’re all for lowering taxes. But if high taxes are sending business elsewhere, why not lower them for everyone instead of granting exemptions for a privileged few?
