In this 1899 cartoon from Puck, all of New York City politics revolves around boss Richard Croker. Vito Lopez has always been the sun for the non profit Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizens Council which he created decades ago to me his political machine Growth of a New-Age Political Machine - New York Times(1993)
Lopez di$penser(NYP)Eyes on Vito-funded charity empire. Rivals of embattled Brooklyn Assemblyman Vito Lopez — who is enmeshed in a sex-harassment scandal and is on the ropes politically — are now taking aim at the $120 million social-services empire that has served as his power base. Rep. Nydia Velazquez told The Post that it’s time for a “comprehensive investigation” of operations at the Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizens Council, founded by Lopez in 1973 and funded by government grants he and his allies have helped secure ever since.
Rep Velazquez Pushing Ridgwood Bushwich into A Fire Sale
Ridgewood Bushwick is one of the city’s largest social-service agencies, with programs from home care to senior centers to job training. After the Department of Investigation reported in 2010 that its board was a rubber stamp with little idea what it was doing, city officials forced a reorganization at the top. Executive director Christiana Fisher, who also served as Lopez’s campaign treasurer, was out. But Lopez’s girlfriend, Angela Battaglia, continues to work as head of the housing unit. IRS filings show she was paid $253,043 last year. Four months ago, before the harassment charges against Lopez were made public, three Brooklyn City Council members close to him allocated $873,589 of their “member item” funds to the group. Leading the pack was Erik Dilan, who challenged Velasquez with Lopez’s backing. Last year, the state delivered $845,806 in three discretionary grants.

Why Does The Media Ignores the Reasons Why Small Business Close in the City and How That Contributes to the Very High Unemployment in NYC
“It’s not about protecting the consumer or the food. This is a money racket for the city,” said Declan Morrison, owner of Blackwater Inn in Forest Hills, Queens.
City fattens coffers with ‘frivonlous’ slaps at local businesses(NYP) It’s a fine mess. The city continues to blitz merchants with ridiculous fines — raking in cash for scuffed cutting boards, too-short napkins and failure to recognize the medicinal properties of ChapStick. Fines against small businesses are skyrocketing. The cash-strapped city sucked in $820 million last year — compared to $741 million in 2007 and $485 million a decade ago.

A Character Witness Himself Under Criminal Investigation
Writing A Character Letter From A Man with No Character
To the Media Morality and Honesty Gets In the Way Of the Spin
NY1 Reporter Grace Rauh listed corrupt lobbyist Hank Sheinkopf as one of the 50 relatives, pals, colleagues and clients who wrote character letters on his Lipsky's defense successful to avoid a long prison sentence The NY1 reporter failed to mention the absurdity of a Sheinkropf send a letter of character to a judge. Rauh should have told her views that Sheinkropf took the 5th 56 times when the NYS questioned him about the AEG bidding process. Sheinkopf took the 5th when asked questions by the NY former state Inspector General Joseph Fisch about the AEG scandal which is still being investigated by the feds as part of the AEG investigation. The Feds are also investigating a Board Of Election (the cesspool of political corruption) contract for new machines that Sheinkopf was a lobbyist for. Feds investigate switch by Board of Elections ... - New York Post
Only Barrett Understands the How Sheinkropf Controls Government and the Press by Deceit
"Sheinkopf copped a memo, (Barrett, Village Voice, 2010) too, obtaining it from an aide to the top Senate staffer, Angelo Aponte,
who Sheinkopf personally installed in the key spot. He had the power
to do that because the skillful Sheinkopf doubles as a lobbyist and as
a political consultant, and had advised Senate Democrats in the
elections that led to the 2008 majority, helping to make Malcolm Smith
majority leader. Sheinkopf collected $356,741 in consulting fees from
the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee at the same time that he was representing AEG and its precursor with Senate Democrats. Having worked for Bill Thompson and Mike Bloomberg most recently, Sheinkopf makes kings so he can then make deals with the kings he’s made."
A King's Pension Deal For Sheinkopf Partner
While Sheinkopf Worked for Thompson His Partner Norman Levy Did Well With the Pension Funds
"Norman Levy “received a half-million dollars” in 2006 payments from Bill Howell,
a major pension fund placement agent, and “appeared sometimes to be
Howell’s partner” in controversial deals with the fund, according to a
source familiar with the transactions. Investigators concluded that
they were splitting fees, and not disclosing it. The payments to Levy -
whose conviction for running a parking-ticket-fixing-scam decades ago
was also overturned on appeal - were allegedly tied to his
introduction of Howell to a principal of Global Strategies, a
consulting firm whose client, Intermedia,
was seeking millions in city and state pension fund investments.
Howell made the placements and shared the fees with Levy, who appeared
to be listed as an employee of one Howell entity. Sheinkopf received
payments from Levy shortly after Levy was paid by Howell." (Voice)

Lipsky's Lawyer Spin: Kruger Corrupted Lipsky
But Nobody Has Explained How Lipsky Got All the Money to Pay Kruger and Others? Of what Lipsky Did for Bruce Ratner? Lipsky Lawyer says His Client Wants to Get Back to Helping People?
In 2007 their relationship changed: Mr. Kruger started sending clients
to Mr. Lipsky, for which the state senator demanded a 50% kickback. Mr. Lipsky agreed and eventually was referred six clients from Mr.
Kruger, the lawyer said. Mr. Lipsky sent the payments to the consulting
firm run by a man that Mr. Kruger introduced as his stepson, whom
prosecutors say was actually an "intimate associate."Mr. Lipsky's attorney, Gerald Lefcourt Spins Him As Community Activists . . . What Next His Client Vito Lopez Was Neutered and Could Not Be A Sexual Harasser
Judge You Need A Rat to Get A Political Crook
“Lipsky provided substantial assistance in the investigation and prosecution of numerous other persons.” judge, Jed S. Rakoff
“In some ways, official corruption has to be ranked among the most evil
of all crimes,” Judge Rakoff said, adding that by its nature, such a
crime was “not easily exposed.” “Cooperation is often critical,” he added, “to pointing the government
toward the existence of insidious situations that undermine our
democratic principles.” But before sentencing Mr. Lipsky, the judge said, "I think it still has
to be the case that to engage in a form of public corruption you must
understand that you go to jail."
You Think Castsimatidis Hired Lipsky to FU His Competition
Another Client of Lipsky John Catsimatidis owner of Red Apple Group and Gristedes Foods sent a character letters on his lobbyist behalf to Judge Rakoff. In court Lipsky lawyer said his client met Mr. Kruger in 1999 when they both fought a proposed
ShopRite on Flatlands Avenue in Brooklyn. The men found they shared
"common ground," the lawyer said. Castsimatidis hired another Svengali political operative the Queens GOP Vice President Vincent Tabone
One letter writer, Baruch College public-affairs professor Doug Muzzio, even praised Lipsky as the quintessential Manhattanite — a “New York, ‘no b.s.’ kind of guy.”
